There is currently a great demand from the industry for computer scientists with a basic knowledge of data mining. In this course, students learn methods and applications of data mining, such as classification or clustering. On the one hand we will develop practical knowledge (in the language R) and the understanding of basic statistical concepts. This includes selected validation methods for the critical evaluation of results. Typical application examples are the grouping on customer groups or the classification of websites.

We offer this lecture and exercise as a compulsory elective in the 5th semester of Media Informatics (Bachelor). Contact person is Reinhard Meister.
